New Fire Hall & Community Centre
History
In the past ten years, two Facility Assessments have been completed for all Town-owned buildings in Middleton, that identified the Fire Hall as the number one building for replacement.
The key shortfall of the building, among many other issues, is the apparatus bay. Built in 1950, the current space is undersized for the equipment resulting in safety conflicts for volunteers when responding to emergency calls.
The assessments did investigate renovating the current building to expand the apparatus bay; however, the cost of the renovations, in addition to losing a significant amount of community space, made the decision to build something new, easy, for both the community and fire service’s needs.
Facility Cost
We estimate the new facility to cost approximately $4.2 million.
